Os Alemães From Ashes Reborn são uma banda que toca um misto de death/black melódico. Até aqui nada de novo, o destaque vai para a forma como combinam elementos desses dois géneros.
Apesar de terem apenas 1 ano como grupo, os seus músicos contam com uma longa experiência trazida das anteriores bandas onde tocavam. Só dessa forma se pode perceber como em pouco tempo foram capazes de lançar um trabalho de estreia musicalmente bem estruturado. A sua música assenta numa base melódica onde conseguem introduzir o peso das guitarras e blast beats de forma harmoniosa, sem que uma parte não se sobreponha à outra, mantendo um equilíbrio sonoro capaz de agradar a um grande número de ouvintes. A vertente melódica fica logo patente em “The Onerous Truth”, faixa instrumental introdutória que abre caminho a uma “Fight For The Light” de contornos death/black mas com um trecho melódico pelo meio e uso de blast beats nas partes mais pesadas. A partir de “Follow The Rising” começamos a perceber uma maior abrangência musical com um ritmo a espaços a pender mais para o thrash; ali pelo meio a toada abranda ligeiramente para podermos apreciar um belíssimo riff, retomando depois um crescendo para terminar novamente dentro do death melódico. As restantes músicas do álbum mantêm-se dentro deste género, alternando entre pormenoresmais técnicos (“Existence Exiled” apresenta outro bom riff) ou passagens mais rápidas e brutais (“Homicidal Rampage”), tudo isto sempre dentro do equilíbrio acima mencionado. O álbum termina como começou, com uma instrumental “The Splendid Path” de contornos mais progressivos que espelha bem o virtuosismo técnico dos seus executantes.
Não sei se terá sido essa a ideia na escolha do nome mas “Renascidos Das Cinzas” aplica-se bem a músicos que deixam para trás um percurso musical mais agressivo dentro do espectro death para se apresentarem agora numa vertente mais técnica, aproveitando para manter do seu passado tudo aquilo que possa fazer a diferença. “Existence Exiled” é uma excelente estreia; não sendo um trabalho que se possa incluir nos melhores do ano é, com toda a certeza, um registo de qualidade imprescindível a figurar na colecção de um verdadeiro “metal-head”.

German From Ashes Reborn are a band that plays a mixture of melodic death/black metal. So far nothing new here, the highlight goes to the way they combine elements from those genres.
Although they’ve been together as a group for just 1 year, its musicians have a long experience brought from their previous bands. Only that way it is possible to understand how in such a short time they were able to release a debut work musically well structured. Their music has a melodic base where they can introduce the weight of the guitars and blast beats in an harmonic way, without one part overlapping the other, maintaining a balance in sound capable of pleasing a wide range of listeners. The melodic approach is right away manifested in “The Onerous Truth”, instrumental intro track that open ways to a “Fight For The Light” of death/black contours but with a melodic passage somewhere in the middle and the use of blast beats in the heavier parts. From “Follow The Rising” we start to perceive a larger musical coverage with a rhythm that sometimes tends more to thrash; somewhere in the middle the pace slightly decreases so we can better appreciate a beautiful riff, resuming afterwards a crescendo to end up again within melodic death metal. The remaining songs keep themselves within this genre, alternating between more technical details (“Existence Exiled” presents another good riff) or faster and brutal passages (“Homicidal Rampage”), all of this maintaining the balance mentioned earlier. The album ends as it started, with an instrumental “The Splendid Path” with a more progressive approach that shows the technical virtuosity of the performers.
I don’t know if that has been the reason behind the choice of the name “From Ashes Reborn” but it suits well musicians that leave behind a more aggressive musical path within death metal to now present themselves on a more technical approach, taking advantage of their past to maintain the necessary elements to make a difference. “Existence Exiled” is an excellent debut; it's not a work to be included among the best of the year but, without a doubt, one to be considered a remarkable work indispensable in a true “metal-head” collection.
