Os Overkill regressaram a Portugal para apresentarem o seu mais recente trabalho “The Wings Of War”. Esta segunda parte da digressão “Wings Over Europe” trouxe também os Alemães Destruction, os norte-Americanos Flotsam & Jetsam e os Alemães Rezet. Coube a estes últimos abrir a noite ao som do seu mais recente álbum “Deal With It”; após “Treadmill To Hell” e “Deal With It” tempo de recuar até “Reality Is A Lie” para novo regresso com “Chaos In my Mind”. O concerto focou-se mais nos últimos 2 álbuns, havendo espaço também para “Minority Erazer” retirado do EP “You Asked For It” e um terminar ao som de “Have Gun, Will Travel” de 2010. Com um arranque a todo o gás bastava aos Flotsam & Jetsam manter o ritmo. Neste regresso a Portugal depois de cá terem estado em nome próprio para apresentarem o seu álbum homónimo, trazem com eles o mais recente “The End Of Chaos”; abrindo ao som de “Prisoner Of Time” deram início a um concerto que nos trouxe temas retirados dos primeiros álbuns: “Doomsday For The Deceiver” (“Hammerhead” e “Desecrator”) e “No Place For Disgrace” (“No Place For Disgrace” e “I Live You Die”), para além de “Iron Maiden”, tema escrito para homenagear a banda que tanto apreciam, entre outros. A noite já ia bem animada mas a chegada dos Destruction pôs tudo em alvoroço com constantes circle pits e uma torrente de gente a ser despejada no minúsculo fosso dos fotógrafos. Ainda este ano estiveram no nosso país para atuar no Moita Metal Fest mas regressaram agora, desta vez ao Norte, para apresentarem o seu novo trabalho, “Born To Perish”. Apesar disso o arranque foi dado ao ritmo do old school com “Curse The Gods” (“Eternal Devastation”), seguindo depois para “Nailed To The Cross” (“The Antichrist”) até chegar finalmente ao tema homónimo do último álbum. Quase sem parar (o público então parecia incansável) iam debitando malha após malha que percorreu quase todos os álbuns da banda. A fechar a banda da noite (apenas porque é a sua digressão, todas estiveram em grande nível), Overkill. Também eles visita costumeira ao nosso país (Bobby lembrou a primeira vez que estiveram em Gaia, no antigo Hard Club há já 19 anos bem como as 2 passagens por Vagos), são sempre uma banda muito acarinhada pelo público. Curiosamente, apesar de esta ser uma digressão de promoção a “The Wings Of War”, o concerto foi um desfilar de clássicos como “Electric Rattlesnake”, “Deny The Cross”, “Bastard Nation” ou “Rotten To the Core”, entre outros. A animação era imensa com todos a cantarem com a banda e a vibrarem com o concerto; mesmo quando o cansaço parecia querer tomar conta dos presentes Bobby arranjava maneira de puxar novamente pelo público. Ao longo do concerto foram vários os momentos em que ele enalteceu as qualidades dos Portugueses, do nosso país (onde referiu ter estado recentemente em férias) e da comunidade emigrante em Newark. O concerto terminou com um “duplo encore” para a sempre pedida “Fuck You”.
Há noites em que tudo corre bem e a energia flui em alta, este foi um desses casos. Quatro bandas a darem bons concertos para um público animado e que retribuía com constantes movimentações. On this return to Portugal after being here in their own name to present their namesake album, they bring with them the latest “The End Of Chaos”; opening to the sound of “Prisoner Of Time” began a concert that brought us themes from the first albums: “Doomsday For The Deceiver” (“Hammerhead” and “Desecrator”) and “No Place For Disgrace” (“No Place For Disgrace” and “I Live You Die”), as well as “Iron Maiden”, a theme written to honor the band they love, among others. The night was very lively, but the arrival of the Destruction set the scene abuzz with constant circle pits and a torrent of people pouring into the tiny photo pit. Later this year they were in our country to perform at Moita Metal Fest but have now returned, this time to the North, to present their newest work, “Born To Perish”. Nevertheless, the kick-off was given to the old school rhythm with “Curse The Gods” (“Eternal Devastation”), followed by “Nailed To The Cross” (“The Antichrist”) until finally getting to the homonymous theme of the last album. Almost endlessly (the audience then seemed tireless) they were charging song after song that went through almost every album of the band. Closing, the band of the night (just because it's their tour, all of them were on a big level), Overkill. They also visit our country usually (Bobby recalled the first time they were in Gaia, at the old Hard Club 19 years ago as well as their 2 stints in Vagos), they are always a very cherished band by the public. Interestingly, although this is a promotional tour for "The Wings Of War", the concert was a parade of classics such as "Electric Rattlesnake", "Deny The Cross", "Bastard Nation" or "Rotten To the Core", among others. The excitement was immense with everyone singing with the band and vibrating with the concert; even when tiredness seemed to want to take care of the people present, Bobby found a way to pull the audience back. Throughout the concert there were several moments when he praised the qualities of the Portuguese, our country (where he reported recently been on vacation) and the emigrant community in Newark. The concert ended with a double encore for the ever-requested “Fuck You”.
