Espanha sempre mostrou grande apreço pela sonoridade power metal, por isso não é de admirar que de lá nos cheguem muitas amostras desse estilo. Uma das mais recentes apostas recai nos Catalães Haunted Gods que lançaram recentemente o EP de estreia “Myths & Tales”, composto por 4 faixas com diferentes abordagens ao estilo.
“Snaeland” é uma faixa mais voltada para o power metal épico de índole fantástica, com um lirismo que narra feitos heróicos e fantásticos. À boleia da figura de Orfeu e da literatura clássica Grega, “Orpheus” narra uma tragédia amorosa com bons arranjos ao nível das vocalizações e momentos down tempo. “Hastings”, pelos instrumentos e ritmo, inicia numa toada mais folk medieval com forte cunho épico juntando depois elementos clássicos; entre esta faixa e “Tower of the Rising Sun” assistimos a uma passagem para uma sonoridade mais voltada para o neoclássico em conjunto com power metal épico.
“Myths & Tales” é um trabalho com uma raio de abrangência grande em termos de género musical, o que acaba por não criar um fio condutor ao longo do EP. Por outro lado, essa extensão musical denota qualidade e versatilidade que, se bem aplicadas, podem resultar num álbum de estreia de bom nível.

Spain has always shown great appreciation for power metal, so it’s not a surprise that we get a lot of those bands coming from there. One of the recent bets lays on Catalans Haunted Gods that have recently released the debut EP “Myths & Tales” composed by 4 tracks with different approaches to the style.
“Snaeland” is a track more into epic power metal of fantastic nature with lyrics that tell heroic and fantastic deeds. Riding on Greek classical literature and Orpheus image, “Orpheus” speaks about a love tragedy with good arrangements regarding vocals and down tempo moments. “Hastings”, due to the instruments used and rhythm, starts in a folk medieval pace with strong epic elements adding afterwards some classical ones; between this track and “Tower of the Rising Sun” we notice a passage to a more neoclassical approach combined with epic power metal.
“Myths & Tales” is a wide range coverage work regarding musicality, which ends up not creating a thrust. On the other end, all this musical extension is a sign of quality and versatility that, if put to good use, might result in a high level debut album.
