Há onze anos atrás Wieland lançava “Fjordland Sagas”, segundo álbum do seu projeto a solo Nebelhorn. Após uma longa ausência ele está de volta com mais histórias vikings debaixo do nome “Urgewalt”.

Wieland: Olá e muito obrigado! :)
D: Creio que a primeira questão que se põe é, porquê uma tão grande ausência?
W: Versão curta e simples dos últimos 10 anos? Divórcio, mudei-me, encontrei novo amor, mudei-me, fui estudar design de jogos para Frankfurt, que completei debaixo de grande stress, mudei-me, organizei um crowdfunding → falhei procura de trabalho na indústria dos jogos → falhei, vários trabalhos pesados para poder ganhar algum dinheiro, lutando pelo melhoramento das condições de trabalho de todos os trabalhadores... → fui despedido, ou apenas saí novamente... segundo crowdfunding → sucesso, o mini trabalho foi divertido → sucesso, fui despedido do mini trabalho devido a “políticas de contenção de custos“, iniciei as gravações de “Urgewalt“ e durante esse período separei-me da minha muita amada namorada... o grande apoio da família e amigos (muito obrigado!) ajudou-me a ultrapassar esse período confuso... portanto, em muitos aspetos este acabou por se tornar um álbum “duro“...
D: Os teus álbuns contam histórias de vikings, ainda assim nenhum é conceptual; preferes „histórias curtas“ ou podemos esperar algumas mudanças no futuro?
W: Hmmm, eu penso que Nebelhorn já o faz, mas de uma forma mais complexa :) Quando pegas em todos os álbuns e misturas as músicas numa sequência diferente podes separá-los em Edda e pequenas histórias que em conjunto contam uma grande história do estilo de “vida viking”. Mas não sei se alguma vez farei um álbum conceptual “limpo”, vamos ver de que forma a minha criatividade me vai iluminar no futuro…
D: A Europa Central também tem uma longa e muito rica história para ser contada. Alguma razão em especial para teres optado por cantar sobre vikings?
W: Edda, bem como variadas histórias e romances históricos apoiados em achados arqueológicos, sempre me apaixonaram. Na minha opinião, esta é a parte “factual” no lirismo de Nebelhorn. A “parte emocional” vem da minha experiência no sentir bem como da observação das circunstâncias e processos no meio ambiente. Os vikings também eram comerciantes, grandes construtores de navios e muitos artesãos tinham um requintado sentido para a arte, música, vestuário… para mim sempre me fez sentir estranhamente familiar.
D: Vais levar este álbum para os palcos? Se sim, planeias fazê-lo a nível local ou vais levá-lo para outros países?
W: Eu sou tudo menos o que se possa chamar de “animador”. Seria terrível para mim recitar as canções uma e outra vez, por muito que goste delas e sejam parte de mim. Quando termino um álbum gosto de me envolver emocionalmente no próximo…
D: Dois anos separam os teus dois primeiros álbuns; podemos esperar por novidades nos próximos dois anos ou vais desaparecer novamente na neblina?
W: Isso depende de algumas coisas. Primeiro de tudo: o sentimento, a predisposição e a emoção. Boas ideias aparecem quando estou plenamente feliz e contente com o que me rodeia… por muito ridículo que possa soar eu chamo-lhe o “Motor dourado”. Ele liga-se quando estou perdidamente apaixonado com o que faço e com a mulher que me ama da mesma forma. Outro ponto essencial é o retorno e apoio dos ouvintes que aprecio bastante! Portanto, os últimos álbuns não eram verdadeiramente álbuns a solo :) É certo que haverá um próximo álbum mas não posso dizer quando ficará pronto ou sequer idealizado… isso depende igualmente dos ouvintes e do seu apoio.
D: Wieland, mais uma vez obrigado pelo tempo dispendido a responderes às minhas questões. Esta última é de discurso livre, usa-a para passares a tua mensagem.
W: Todos temos nas nossas mãos a possibilidade de fazermos o melhor e o bem para nós e para os outros… tudo é um grande ciclo e receberás o que deres :) Obrigado a todos e apreciem a música! :)

Eleven years ago Wieland released “Fjordland Sagas”, second album of his solo project Nebelhorn. After a long absence he’s back with more viking stories under the name “Urgewalt”.

Wieland: Hello and thank you very much! :)
D: I guess the first question to be made is, why such a long absence?
W: Hardcore short version of the 10 years? Divorce, moved, found new love, moved, flight forward to study in Frankfurt for game design, which also completed under great strain, moved, organize crowdfunding → failed, sought job in the games industry → failed, various hardworking jobs made for little money, fighting for improvement of the working conditions for all workers...→ fired, or got out again ... Second crowdfunding → success, mini-job was fun → success, got fired from mini-job through "financial optimization measures", recording start of “Urgewalt”, during the recording, separation from my deeply loved girlfriend ... Enormous support by good friends and family (thank you!) helped me to get over all this mess... So, in many ways this has become a "hard" album ...
D: Your albums tell viking stories yet none is conceptual; do you prefer “short stories” or can we expect some changes in the future?
W: Hmmm, I think Nebelhorn is doing this already, but in a more complex way. :) When you got all the albums and mix the songs in a different sequence you can separate into Edda and the stories that are almost telling a whole story of a “viking life“. But I don't know, if i will ever do a “clean“ conceptual album, let's see what creativity brings to light in the future...
D: Central Europe also has a long and rich history to be told. Any reason why you decided to sing about vikings?
W: The Edda and various history and nonfiction books with archaeological background have always fascinated me. In my opinion, this is the "factual part" of Nebelhorn's lyrics. The "emotional part" comes from my experiences of feeling, as well as from the recognition of circumstances and processes in the environment. Vikings were also traders, great shipbuilders and many craftsmen had an incredible sense for fine art, the clothing, the music ...for me it always felt kind of familiar in a strange kind of way.
D: Will you take this album to the road? If so, do you plan to keep it locally or will you be travelling to other countries?
W: I'm far from what's called an “entertainer”. It would be horrible for me to recite the songs, as much as I love them and they are a part of me, over and over again. When I finish an album, I would like to get emotionally immersed in the next work ...
D: Two years separate your two first albums; can we expect another news two years from now or will you disappear in the mist again?
W: It depends on some essential things. First of all: the feeling, mood and emotion. Good ideas roll when I am completely happy and pleased with my surrounding... As silly as it may sounds, but I call it the “golden Engine“. It turns on when I am deeply in love with what I am doing and the woman that loves me as much as I do. Another essential point is the feedback and support of the listeners that I am appreciated very much! So the last albums weren't really solo Albums at all. ;) For sure there will be a next album, but I can't say when this will be finished or even realized...this also depends on the listeners and their support.
