Coube aos Booby Trap darem início à edição deste ano do Vagos Metal Fest. Repetindo a excelente atuação que tiveram no Laurus Nobilis Music Fest, Peter Junker animou o já grande número de pessoas presentes (tendo em conta que era uma quinta-feira) com temas como “O Bom, o Mau e o Filho da Puta” ou “Stand Up and Fight” entre outros retirados dos seus dois álbuns, havendo tempo ainda para uma cover de “Ace of Spades” dos Motörhead. Com o mote já dado restava aos Destroyers of All manter a “rotação”. Ao comando de João Mateus iam debitando malhas conhecidas como “Hate Through Violence”; pelo meio apresentaram ainda “Break The Chains” um tema novo a figurar no próximo trabalho da banda. De Linda-a-Velha os Trinta e Um trouxeram consigo duas décadas de hardcore para abrilhantar a festa. Era notória a alegria de Ze Goblin nas palavras de ordem, igualmente correspondida pela animação do público que dançava ao som de “O Cavalo Mata” e “Coma 85”. Coube aos InSammer o estatuto de primeira banda estrangeira a tocar nesta edição mas deve-se dizer que não foi uma grande atuação. Em termos visuais a apresentação dos elementos parecia algo desfasada, com Dennis Wise e Teodor Alexuta a serem os únicos a apresentarem-se pintados (apesar de já ter visto vários vídeos que mostram ser uma situação habitual); nem mesmo a energia de Vika Dola foi suficiente para cativar o público que se mantinha na sua maioria presente mas sem compactuar muito da festa. Efeito contrário tiveram os Theriomorphic que concentraram as atenções no seu último EP “Of Fire And Light”, não descurando obviamente temas icónicos como “Theriomorphic” a fechar o set. Tempo para os cabeça-de-cartaz Orphaned Land regressarem a Portugal (e ao palco do Vagos), agora com o novo trabalho “Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs”. A sua atuação acabou por ser um pouco prejudicada por problemas técnicos que fizeram com que a energia do palco fosse abaixo e, mesmo depois de “resolvida”, provocasse ainda alguns cortes no microfone de Kobi. Mesmo com todos esses percalços deram um bom concerto (não foi o melhor que vimos deles, diga-se) graças ao seu à vontade e poder comunicativo. Sem nada a apontar ao guitarrista Idan Amsalem a verdade é que se sentiu a falta de Yossi Sassi. Para os apreciadores de metal mais extremo os Analepsy mostraram que a sua juventude não significa menos qualidade musical, transformando o recinto num poço de brutalidade ao som de faixas como “Witnesses of Extinction” ou “Atrocity Deeds”. Depois de todas estas emoções talvez fosse melhor abrandar… ou não. Pelo menos para os thrashers Alemães Dust Bolt essa palavra não existe arrancando a toda a velocidade com “Mind the Gap” mantendo o público, que parecia incansável, sempre em constantes circle pits à custa de malhas como “Toxik Attack” ou “Soul Erazor”. Para fechar a noite vieram os Impera apresentar o seu “Weightless”, aproveitando ainda a oportunidade para mostrarem um tema novo. A festa continuou noite dentro ao som dos Z-Collective.

Booby Trap were in charge of starting this year's edition of Vagos Metal Fest. Repeating the excellent performance made at Laurus Nobilis Music Fest Peter Junker entertained the already crowded venue (bearing in mind that it was still a Thursday) with songs such “O Bom, o Mau e o Filho da Puta” or “Stand Up and Fight” among others taken from their two albums, having also time for Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” cover. With the motto given, Destroyers of All just had to keep it “rolling”. With João Mateus on the command voice they were delivering known tracks such as “Hate Through Violence”; in between presented “Break The Chains”, newest single to be included in the band’s next work. From Linda-a-Velha, the Trinta e Um brought with them two decades of hardcore to brighten up the party. We could clearly notice Ze Goblin’s happiness in his words, equally reciprocated by the cheerful audience that danced at the sound of “O Cavalo Mata” and “Coma 85”. InSammer were entitled to be the first foreign band to play this year but truth is it wasn’t a very appealing performance. In visual terms the members seemed somewhat delayed, with Dennis Wise and Teodor Alexuta the only members who appeared on stage painted (although I’ve seen some videos that show this is to be a common situation); even Vika Dola’s energy wasn’t enough to attract the public that nevertheless kept his ground although not too participative. Opposite effect got Theriomorphic that concentrated attentions on their latest EP “Of Fire And Light”, of course not forgetting iconic songs such as “Theriomorphic” closing the gig. Time now for the headliners Orphaned Land return to Portugal (and to Vagos), now with a new work “Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs”. Their performance ended up being a little bit harmed for technical problems which caused a power down on stage and even after “solved” still managed to interfere with Kobi’s microphone. Even with all this setbacks it was a good concert (not their best that we have seen so far, we might say) mainly due to Kobi’s easiness and power of communication. With nothing to point out to guitarist Idan Amsalem the truth is that Yossi Sassi absence was noticed. For the ones that enjoy extreme metal, Analepsy showed that youth doesn’t mean less musical quality, transforming the pit in a pool of brutality at the sound of tracks like “Witnesses of Extinction” or “Atrocity Deeds”. After all these emotions maybe it was time to slow down a bit… or not. At least for German thrashers Dust Bolt that word doesn’t exist, starting at full speed with “Mind The Gap” keeping the relentless audience in constant circle pits at the expenses of killer tracks such as “Toxik Attack” or “Soul Erazor”. To close the night came Impera to present their “Weightless”, also taking advantage of the opportunity to show a new track. The party continued afterwards with the sound of Z-Collective.
