Cavemaster - Negro Oculto

[ENG] Those who keep an eye on Portuguese Underground scene know well the work of Mário Rodrigues, branched among several musical projects. From now on there’s one more name to add to that list, Cavemaster. There are always compositions that stay in the drawer, others that are discarded because are not adequate to the moment and some are that are still ideas ready to pop out; was with that in mind that he decided to move forward with this old school work “Negro Culto”, with a more crude and simple sonority without major technical arrangements which contains in itself that black mystic aura. Under the alias DS13 he is in charge of the guitar, bass and keyboard, leaving the voice and lyrics to Revage (Lino Mateus) and the drums to Rater (Paulo Bucho); all the recordings were made at Fatsound.Productions studio. In terms of musical production it’s very good, with good balancing of all sounds which makes it possible to capture all the blackness in words and the essence of the curse. I don’t consider Cavemaster to be a tribute to the past project, I prefer more to see it has an artistic manifestation settled in a raw base that expands itself in a mixture of old and new, creating some sort of black timelessness.
